Role Overview

The Compliance Specialist executes the day-to-day AML/CFT and regulatory compliance controls of Inception Thailand, our Thai entity which is regulated by the Bank of Thailand (“BOT”). The role sits within the second line of defence and is responsible for due diligence, alert handling, case documentation and regulatory reporting support.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform customer and partner due diligence, including enhanced due diligence, beneficial ownership identification, politically exposed person handling, and source of funds and wealth review, and escalate cases falling outside risk appetite.
  • Review and dispose of transaction monitoring and name and sanctions screening alerts within agreed service levels, documenting the rationale for every decision.
  • Prepare draft ft suspicious transaction reports and supporting analysis for the Compliance Manager’s determination, and maintain the escalation register and case files.
  • Screen against Thai designated lists and applicable international sanctions lists, and escalate potential matches promptly.
  • Conduct periodic and event-driven customer and partner risk reviews, and manage CDD refresh cycles and backlogs.
  • Maintain complete, audit-ready records, case documentation and evidence for examinations, audits and compliance reporting.
  • Prepare periodic statutory and regulatory returns and internal management information covering alert volumes, filings, screening performance and CDD status.
  • Support BOT and AMLO examinations, information requests and remediation activity, including evidence collection and sample preparation
  • Track Thai and international regulatory developments affecting AML/CFT, pyment service and foreign exchange requirements, and flag their impact on local procedures
  • Support the delivery of compliance training and awareness across the entity.
  • Coordinate with Onboarding, Operations, Customer Support, Legal and Group Compliance to resolve compliance issues without compromising controls
  • Identify and escalate control weaknesses and monitoring or screening tuning gaps observed in day-to-day alert handling.

Required Qualifications

  • 2–4 years’ experience in AML/CFT, T, KYC/KYB, customer due diligence or compliance operations, preferably at a financial institution or payment service provider regulated by the Bank of Thailand.
  • Working knowledge of Thai AML/CFT requirements customer due diligence, ongoing monitoring, screening and reporting to AMLO and awareness of the FATF Recommendations.
  • Practical experience with transaction monitoring and screening tools, and with documenting alert and case decisions to an audit-ready standard.
  • Cross-border remittance, e-money or digital asset exposure is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in law, business, finance, accounting or a related field; ACAMS or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • Strong written Thai and English; able to document analysis clearly and concisely.
  • Accurate and methodical, and comfortable working to service levels in a fast-paced, international environment.
  • Willing to raise concerns and escalate, and comfortable holding a control position with internal stakeholders.
